Ho trovato questo libro nella mia esplorazione della biblioteca vicino casa. Era li, solo soletto, sembrava chiamarmi e chiedermi Leggimi!. Come potevo rifiutare? Mi ha in un primo momento sconfortato la lunghezza, mi sono infatti chiesta se lo avrei finito (ultimamente ho poca pazienza nella lettura). Eppure, dopo qualche conto sulle dita mi sono detta Provaci!.

Così eccomi qui, in poche parole, dopo 9 giorni a recensirlo.

Katie Simmonds è una protagonista simpatica, capace di farti ridere e ricordarti i dubbi che avevi quando tutti ti chiedono Cosa vuoi fare da grande?. È una ragazza piena di idee, un pozzo di creatività, le manca solo la tela giusta. Lavora come cameriera in un bar e nel frattempo quotidianamente reinventa il suo lavoro, nell'attesa dell'idea Giusta. In poche parole questa è la protagonista.

Nella narrazione però non è l'unica ad essere seguita, vengono inserite altre mini storie che ho trovato fastidiose. Per i miei gusti hanno appesantito di pagine a volte evitabili, un libro già sostanzioso.

Tra questi troviamo: Sukie la collega e amica, Jon l'inquilino e Matt il lavapiatti. Ne ho citato solo qualcuno, dalla trama mi sembrava un libro che seguiva solo la protagonista, così non è stato.

Dan è il ragazzo di cui si innamora. Sono rimasta colpita dal loro primo incontro, molto realistico. Non si può dire che sia un ragazzo che capisce al volo le donne, si lascia desiderare a lungo e spesso mi sono chiesta Come finirà?.

Oltre questo, fino a un certo punto, il suo comportamento è giustificato. Mi ha sorpreso quando si è rimesso con l'ex, ma perché?. Dopo la lettura capirete, forse sentirete un odio profondo verso il libro...ma si supera!

She tried to call out that he might as well get a bottle when a thumping vibration started in her very soul, and then a strange low throbbing started all over her body. Oh my God, she thought. Another panic attack. Or was this a love attack? Was this what all the songs were about? Had she finally discovered the Holy Grail of kisses? No, it was her mobile phone.

 In conclusione è un libro carino, non troppo impegnativo e come scrittura mi ricorda Sophie Kinsella. Adatto se cercate situazioni divertenti e desiderate farvi una risata sincera. Lo consiglio anche per arricchire il proprio inglese, per la varietà di vocaboli e per lo stile semplice di Melissa.
